The Glassjaw Blazer
The band Glassjaw has been my favorite band since first listen back in highschool. There is something about the grittiness of them that will always draw me in. Scatter-brained lyrics, chanting and anthem driving chorus', driven power and ultimately, their style, were all so new to me growing up in South Texas. Their attitude and style, straight out of the tri state area was something I never had seen before. Part of that style was laid on lead singer, Daryl Palumbo's feet. I had seen him live in various Air Force 1s, and Jordan 1s (with matching red jumpman tattoos on each shin) and also in my favorite Dunk hi, the euro release, Brazil from 2003. When I saw him rock Brazils with slacks, I instantly began to hunt for sneakers. This lead to me finding out about the friends and family only release of the Deftones Dunk high and the Glassjaw Blazer Classic. 30 pairs were rumored to have released. A few went to the band members and the rest went to their Merch Direct store in the Bronx. Fans of Glassjaw and fans other similar bands that had merch in the store bought these shoes. Most of the customers that purchased the GJ Blazer were Glassjaw fans rather than sneakerheads so most of them were likely worn, beat into the ground and thrown away. 2 pictures (shown below), show the counter top at Merch Direct along with some other GJ merch behind the glass counter. For all these years, those were the only 2 plus 2 other hazy shots of this shoe that had surfaced over the net, until a few weeks ago when a brand new, size 9.5 surfaced on eBay. Pics below show this shoe in new angles and lighting that had never before been seen to the net. Shows the box and even a very nice shot of the sample tag. I contacted the seller, he indeed did sell them for an undisclosed amount. Some lucky guy out there has these things in his possession now. Maybe someday I can find a pair to fit me. Until then, I will enjoy these photos.
ALSO, IF YOU HAVE THESE SHOES, OR KNOW SOMEONE THAT DOES, PLEASE LET ME KNOW, WHETHER THEY ARE FOR SALE OR NOT, I WOULD LOVE TO AT LEAST SEE SOME MORE PICTURES OF THEM!
